Meet Selformer: A Fresh, Personalized Pilates Experience

Selformer, founded by renowned music photographer Dana Distortion Yavin, brings a transformative, self-service approach to Pilates in a cozy, personalized environment.

 

After struggling with chronic pain from carrying heavy camera gear at festivals, live concerts, and tours, Yavin found healing through Pilates and now shares that life-changing experience with others. After just one year in business, Selformer has quickly become a staple in the Greenpoint community.

At Selformer, clients can book private rooms equipped with Balanced Body Reformers, springboards, props, and 55" rotating touch screens featuring a variety of in-house-produced videos. At your own pace and schedule, you can choose classes by certified instructors for every level.

 

The studio also offers a sunny, intimate group room with seven reformers and a duet room for two-person sessions, available with video-led or instructor-guided classes.

Selformer fosters a strong community spirit, hosting regular community classes, special events, and workshops designed to connect members and encourage growth. Specialty classes, such as Core Kings, a reformer class designed for men, and Sunrise Yoga, a mat class designed to start your day off strong, are also offered. The studio features a welcoming coffee shop with specialty lattes and snacks, a curated retail space offering premium fitness gear and gifts, and a new Mat Studio next door for yoga, dance, and mat Pilates. With its clean, cozy, boho aesthetic and a splash of rock 'n' roll, Selformer is truly not your ordinary Pilates studio.

This November, Selformer launched its first Grip socks collection: Bad Girl Grips, a collection of 14 unique grip sock styles that blend style and performance. With its unique rock'n'roll-inspired designs, this collection is not your ordinary grip socks.
